Born in Medellín, Colombia, and currently residing in Berlin, Echeverri’s work explores human existence and the ways we relate to the world around us. He is interested in how our connection to nature, technology, and images shapes the way we understand and inhabit reality. Through painting, drawing, and architecture, he studies how humans build meaning through what they create, and how those creations, in turn, influence the way we think and remember. His practice reflects on tools and representations as extensions of the body and memory, suggesting that every image, object, or structure is part of a larger system that connects human life with the living world.

An architect by training, he graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Bolivariana, completed a specialization in geopolitics at Universidad EAFIT, and earned an MA in Photography and Arts from the University of the Arts London. His interdisciplinary practice integrates photography, painting, drawing, and architecture, with a particular focus on visual and narrative representation.

His practice began with photography, gradually evolving into painting, drawing, and installation. His exhibitions are characterized by the appropriation of small spaces, inviting viewers to experience the work.

In the first half of 2023, his work delved into his architectural roots with the exhibition 10x20x40, an investigation into the basic Colombian brick as a symbol of progress. This project highlighted how displaced communities actively contribute to the construction and transformation of cities, emphasizing the dynamic and ever-changing nature of urban landscapes in Latin America.

He is currently developing El Mato, a project inspired by the archaeological site of Chiribiquete, Colombia, which examines conservation within the context of the climate crisis. The work reflects on how images, both human-made and machine-generated, construct realities, shape perception, and extend collective memory. It explores the fragile continuity between nature, technology, and imagination, suggesting that the tools we invent to represent the world also alter our relationship with it. Through representations that evoke the memory of a Colombian jungle that was once a home and refuge, El Mato creates a reflective dialogue on belonging, transformation, and the landscapes that inhabit both our minds and the earth itself.

For the last ten years, he has collaborated with the Colombian artist Clemencia Echeverri as Director of Photography for all her video installations.
