Camilo Echeverri (b. 1977, Medellín, Colombia) is an artist based in Berlin working across painting, video, installation, and photography. Trained as an architect at Pontificia Universidad Bolivariana, with further studies in geopolitics at Universidad EAFIT and an MA in Photography from University of the Arts London, his practice examines how systems of representation — images, archives, structures — mediate our relationship with the living world. Working across different media, his practice examines how each form of representation alters perception and reshapes what it claims to document.
Following his MA, he developed a body of photographic work including projects such as The World is Fulling, Super Women, and Correspondencias. Between 2014 and 2015, alongside James Evans and Danija Andersone, he created Revista Asunto, a publication dedicated to Latin American culture and art. Since then, he has collaborated with Colombian artist Clemencia Echeverri as Director of Photography for all her video installations. Between 2019 and 2022, he began his development in painting, culminating in the exhibition Evidencia · Verdad · Decepción, a body of work that reflects on how images function as evidence, shape belief, and easily slip into manipulation and deception. In 2023, he presented 10x20x40, an investigation into the Colombian brick as a symbol of urban transformation and displacement in Latin America. In 2024, alongside Paloma Zamorano Ferrari, he developed Futuro Ancestral, an installation at the Ibero-american institute in Berlin where historical photographic archives and AI-generated images become an oracle guided by energy and chance.
He is currently developing El Mato, a body of work built from trips to the Colombian Amazon and edited from a distance. Combining documentary material, botanical garden imagery, and AI-generated video, the project traces how observing has become capturing, preserving, and codifying. The jungle appears less as territory and more as screen, archive, and data. In this displacement, El Mato asks what remains alive when the world has been almost entirely translated into images, and whether it is possible to distinguish between remembering and imagining what can no longer be touched.

Camilo Echeverri (n. 1977, Medellín, Colombia) es un artista radicado en Berlín que trabaja en pintura, video, instalación y fotografía. Formado como arquitecto en la Pontificia Universidad Bolivariana, con estudios posteriores en geopolítica en la Universidad EAFIT y una maestría en Fotografía en la Universidad de las Artes de Londres, su práctica examina cómo los sistemas de representación—imágenes, archivos, estructuras—median nuestra relación con el mundo vivo. Trabajando a través de diferentes medios, su práctica examina cómo cada forma de representación altera la percepción y reconfigura aquello que pretende documentar.
Tras su maestría, desarrolló un cuerpo de trabajo fotográfico que incluye proyectos como The World is Fulling, Super Women y Correspondencias. Entre 2014 y 2015, junto a James Evans y Danija Andersone, creó Revista Asunto, una publicación dedicada a la cultura y el arte latinoamericano. Desde entonces, ha colaborado con la artista colombiana Clemencia Echeverri como Director de Fotografía en todas sus video instalaciones. Entre 2019 y 2022 inicia su desarrollo pictórico, que culmina en la exposición Evidencia · Verdad · Decepción, un trabajo que reflexiona sobre cómo las imágenes funcionan como evidencia, moldean la creencia y derivan fácilmente en manipulación y engaño. En 2023 presentó 10x20x40, una investigación sobre el ladrillo colombiano como símbolo de transformación urbana y desplazamiento en América Latina. En 2024, junto a Paloma Zamorano Ferrari, desarrolla Futuro Ancestral, una instalación para el instituto iberoamericano de Berlin donde archivos fotográficos históricos e imágenes generadas con IA se convierten en un oráculo guiado por la energía y el azar.
Actualmente desarrolla El Mato, un cuerpo de trabajo construido a partir de viajes a la Amazonía colombiana y editado desde la distancia. Entre material documental, imágenes de jardines botánicos y video generado con IA, el proyecto traza cómo observar se ha convertido en capturar, conservar y codificar. La selva aparece menos como territorio y más como pantalla, archivo y dato. En este desplazamiento, El Mato pregunta qué permanece vivo cuando el mundo ha sido traducido casi por completo en imágenes, y si es posible distinguir entre recordar e imaginar lo que ya no se puede tocar.
